Welcome to the Family Storyteller website, where you will find stories about people, events, and ideas that are Inspirational, interesting, or humorous. I believe that reading stories about other people can directly impact us and our families by helping us to discover where we come from which helps us gain a sense of who we really are.
People are interesting. A person does not need to be famous, nor wealthy to have a fascinating and inspiring story. As we record our histories we allow our children and their children the opportunity to connect with us for generations.
Most dictionaries define a story as a narrative account of one or more events. When we present these events and ideas in words and images this is known as storytelling. Storytelling has been used since time began for entertainment purposes, or to teach moral values, or preserve history, etc.
The Family Storyteller website was created to tell stories of other people in words and images. Learning about people, whether they are our ancestors, or people of other cultures, can help us appreciate them and feel a kinship to them. My hope is that you will take advantage of this site by learning and sharing stories that teach us about our family and about our human family as a whole. I believe this can be of benefit to us all and help us grow closer together.
I believe that our children, in particular, will benefit by learning about their family and others. It can help them feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves and realize that they are not alone in this world. I believe it can help them feel good about themselves and increase their feelings of self-worth.
When we read stories about others who have overcome challenges, we feel inspired and believe we can accomplish things as well. When we read about people who have gone through similar experiences as we have, we feel a connection with them and feel like they understand us. By reading stories about other people, we get to know and understand them better. We can feel inspired, or encouraged, or perhaps even laugh, or cry with them.
Thank you for helping to make this a positive, successful adventure that can and hopefully will strengthen our families and bring joy into our lives.
